While the rest of the country is raking leaves and eating pumpkin flavored items, my SOCAL lavender is back in bloom. This is my nod to all things purple and flowery.
Mix flour, lavender, and salt together. In a large bowl, beat butter until fluffy. Add sugars and mix well. Add the flour mixture and beat until combined. Divide dough and roll each half into a rope about 12 inches long (1-1/2″ diameter). Wrap in plastic and chill for at least 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350F and line baking sheets with parchment. Unwrap the dough and brush with egg wash. Coat with sanding sugar. Slice 1/4″ thick and place on sheets about 1″ apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until lightly golden brown on edges.
