Quick and easy oatmeal cookies that you mix using your hands. Easy and forgiving recipe good for young kids. Not sure where this originally came from; a scribbled and stained index card with the recipe has been stuck to the fridge for years.
Preheat oven to 350F.
Combine everything except the granulated sugar. Keep it simple, use your hands to mix it together, and take out your aggressions on the dough. If using margarine in a tub, use the tub to measure the rest of the ingredients.
Grab pieces of dough and roll into 1-inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Expect to end up with 3 to 4 dozen cookies.
Use the bottom of a glass to flatten the cookies. Dip the glass into the granulated sugar, then flatten a dough ball. The flatter you make them, the crispier the cookies will be.
Bake until light brown, about 10 minutes, depending on how flat you made them.
