Soft, cakey, with a wonderful nutmeg aroma. This recipe is from my great grandma.
Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in eggs until fluffy. Mix baking soda with sour milk and add to the creamed mixture alternately with dry ingredients. Can be refrigerated overnight if desired.
Roll quite thick and cut with desired cutters. Sprinkle with sugar and bake in a 425 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Can be iced and decorated if desired.
