Delicious homemade croutons for your Christmas salads and soups! Adds so much fun to your dish.
Using mini cookie cutters, cut as many shapes out of each slice of bread as possible.
Once you have the amount of croutons that you wish to make (make lots – they store very well in an airtight container) lay them out on a cookie sheet.
Brush with melted butter.
Generously sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
Bake at 350 degrees F for about 15 minutes, or until they start to brown. Then remove from the oven and set aside to cool.
Once they have cooled, store them in an airtight container.
These would make fun gifts to package and hand out!
They are wonderful for salads and soups. For soups I like to use regular sized cookie cutters and cut out the bread. Then one giant crouton can be put on top of a bowl of soup or chili. Really fun! For Christmas I use a tree shape – and we enjoy using them for our soups and chili all through the month.
Have fun making these all during the year…..snowflakes for winter, hearts for Valentines, flowers for spring, etc.
