Description

This quiche is just like your typical ham and cheddar sandwich; yet all combined into a lovely quiche that is sure to please the whole family for breakfast or dinner!

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Pie Crust, Unbaked
  • 1-½ cup Ham, Chopped Into Bite Size Pieces
  • ¼ cups Onion, Minced
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
  • 5 whole Eggs
  • 2 cups Heavy Cream (or Whole Milk, Heavy Cream Is Preferred)
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ¼ teaspoons Sugar

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 425F. Place your pie crust into a deep dish pie pan. Sprinkle the ham, onion, and shredded cheese into the bottom of the pie crust.

In a large bowl, mix together the eggs, cream, salt, and sugar. Pour the egg mixture over the ham in the pie crust. Place the quiche in the oven and bake for 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, turn the temperature on the oven to 300F. Place a pie shield over the edges of the crust to avoid burning, and return the quiche to the oven and bake for another 30-35 minutes. The quiche is done when a knife, stuck into the center comes out clean.

Pretty tasty! But, definitely use a deep dish pie plate; my 9-inch Pyrex was a bit overfull & needed more– a lot more– time to bake. Seemed like too much milk, maybe? And, the bottom crust stayed too soft (yes, I did bake it at the higher temp for the first 15). I’ll probably try it again with a couple tweaks.

This is absolutely decadent! Really tasty. But I think it would be just as good with about half the amount of cheese.
