Description

There is one cookie that has to be my favorite. This is it. I’ve been baking these for 40 years and they are still my absolute favorite. I think I can make them with my eyes closed.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Ground Ginger
  • 1-½ teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ¾ cups Shortening
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ¼ cups Molasses
  • ½ cups Granulated Sugar For Coating

Preparation

Mix dry ingredients together. In large bowl, cream shortening with sugar. Add egg and molasses; mix well and add dry ingredients. Roll into balls about the size of large marbles; roll in sugar. Place on parchment paper lined cookie sheets and bake for 12-14 minutes at 350 degrees F. They will flatten and crinkle on top.
