Description

Many apple cider recipes have sugar added to them and are overly sweet, for my taste. This recipe however goes in the other direction—I add water to it to dilute the natural sweetness of the apple juice. This also stretches the amount, making the recipe more economical.

Ingredients

  • 1 quart Apple Juice
  • 2 cups Water
  • 5 whole Cinnamon Sticks
  • 4 whole Cloves
  • 1 whole Orange, Sliced, Leave Skin On

Preparation

In a large pot, combine apple juice, water, cinnamon sticks, cloves, orange and bring to a boil. Reduce and simmer for 15 minutes or longer.

Serve.

We enjoyed this, but I thought the orange gave it a bit of bitterness. I might add fewer orange slices next time and/or add a pinch of sugar.

This was delicious. I enjoyed this all weekend. Had a bit of a cold and it made me feel so much better.
