Description

Fresh and tart with just enough sweetness. Way better than the store-bought stuff!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 cups Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice (10-12 Lemons)
  • 6 cups Cold Water
  • 1 whole Lemon, Sliced, For Garnish

Preparation

First put 1 cup of water and 1 cup sugar in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely and it just starts to bubble. Remove from the heat, bring to room temperature, then stash in the fridge to cool off.

Meanwhile, you can start squeezing your lemons.

In a large pitcher add the 6 cups of cold water, the 2 cups of lemon juice and the simple syrup. Stir and then chill completely.

Serve over ice with a slice of lemon as garnish. This would also be great with a little vodka and a splash of tonic to make it bubbly!

Having company this weekend and most of my guest don’t drink alcohol. This sounds perfect thanks for the recipe

This was absolutely perfect. We have a lemon tree in our new yard, and have more lemons than we know what to do with. This used lots of them, which helped, lol. Just the perfect balance of sweet and tart, and SO refreshing on this 100 degree day in Phoenix!

I only had Persian limes on hand but it made a very deliciously tart limeade. I would highly recommend this recipe. It was very easy, except for squeezing the limes. You could use purchased lime or lemon juice if you wanted to speed things up but it may not taste as good as fresh squeezed.
