Description

Pound cake, sliced strawberries, mozzarella, chocolate and basil, offer the perfect combination for a delicious grilled cheese cakewich.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices Part-skim Mozzarella Cheese, Divided
  • 4 slices Pound Cake (slices Should Be About 1/2-inch Thick)
  • 3 whole Strawberries, Sliced, Divided
  • Ground Fresh Peppercorns, To Taste
  • 2 leaves Basil, Thinly Sliced (chiffonade), Divided
  • ¼ cups Chocolate Chips, Melted, Divided, Or You Can Also Use Chocolate Syrup

Preparation

Preheat panini grill.

Place 2 slices of mozzarella on top of 2 slices of pound cake. Add strawberries over mozzarella. Season with fresh peppercorns. Sprinkle with basil. Add chocolate. Top with remaining mozzarella slices.

Close the cakewich by placing the remaining slices of cake on top. Place onto the hot panini press. Close the press and allow it to grill for about 1 minute, or until lightly browned and cheese is melted.

Top with more chocolate (optional) and serve immediately.
