This recipe is from my Grandma Evie’s recipe box. It is the first recipe I have selected to make on my way to baking my way through all of her recipes. A spicy, dense cake that made my kitchen smell like Grandma Evie’s!
Mix ingredients together. Pour into a greased 8×8 pan. Bake at 375ºF for 25-30 minutes.
Notes:
I used whole wheat pastry flour and light sour cream because that is what I had on hand.
I’d like to experiment with using an alternative sweetner instead of sugar. I will edit the recipe if I do and it turns out well.
This could use some sort of cream cheese frosting. I may add cinnamon to match the spice in the cake.
