Candied nuts are great on salads, breakfast bowls or ice cream or as a snack or a party favor.
In a microwavable glass with a handle, add the nuts. Next, add the sugar, then the water. Set the microwave for 6 minutes and start.
In the meantime, lightly grease or spray Pam on a baking sheet. This will help to separate the candied nuts when they’re done.
Check the microwave every few minutes. The sugar-water will slowly start to thicken. Give it a quick stir (maybe 2-3 times during cooking). If during the last minute of cooking it becomes fragrant, stop the microwave to avoid burning.
Pour the nuts onto the prepared baking sheet. Be careful when doing this because the nuts will be hot to the touch. Cool completely (uncovered) until nice and firm.
Note: Walnuts work really well and are easy to work with. Pecans are good too but burn easily. Macadamia nuts and almonds also make a fun variety.
