These are really surprisingly delightful! The texture of the crescent rolls becomes something entirely different during the baking process: the top gets delightfully crisp and flavorful, while the underneath side remains soft and mushy and more “apple dumpling-y”. And the Mountain Dew, coupled with the obscene amount of butter, creates a yummy, sweet sauce at the end. Serve these beauties with ice cream.
Cut apples into 8 slices each.
Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll. Place in a 9 x 13 buttered pan.
Melt butter, then add sugar and barely stir.
Add vanilla, stir, and pour over apples.
Pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
Serve with ice cream, and spoon some of the sweet sauces from the pan over the top.

This sounds amazing but can you use a different soda. I have Sprite Zero, too much caffeine and sugar in Mountain Dew. I was wondering if there was a way to make them lighter. Thanks IBURNRICE for the lighter touch.

I KNOW these would taste absolutely delicious, but was wondering if anyone figured out a way to make them healthier??? I was wondering if an alternative sweetener could be used? Or less butter, and sugar??

I’ve made these 3 times now and everyone who has tasted it says “it’s the best dessert ever”. What a compliment for such an easy recipe!

Can you make these ahead of time? And if so, by how much. I’m just wondering if these would get soggy waiting in the pan while we ate dinner.
