Description

A holiday twist on an old favorite.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Puffed Rice Cereal
  • 1 cup Shredded Sweetened Coconut
  • 10 drops Green Food Coloring
  • 3 teaspoons Softened Butter (For The Krispie Treats)
  • 4 cups Miniature Marshmallows
  • ½ cups Mini Whooper Malted Milk Candy Robin Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Butter Or Non-Stick Cooking Spray (To Grease The Casserole Dish)

Preparation

In a large bowl, add the cereal and set aside. Combine the shredded coconut and green food coloring in another bowl until coconut is coated and colored. Set aside.

In a large size microwavable bowl, add the butter and marshmallows. Heat the marshmallows and butter in the microwave for about 1 minute. Stir and put it back in the microwave if needed for another 45 seconds or until the marshmallows and butter are melted. Stir together until smooth. Add the marshmallow mixture into the bowl of cereal and gently stir all ingredients until the cereal is coated.

Lightly coat a 12x9x2-inch casserole dish or baking pan with non-stick cooking spray and add the marshmallow and cereal mixture into it. Use a buttered spatula, wax paper, or slightly damp hands to gently press the mixture evenly into the dish.

Quickly, while the marshmallow is still sticky, sprinkle the green coconut on top and lightly press it down onto the cereal.

On top of the “green grass”, lay out the candy eggs in random places and push them down slightly into the cereal mixture. While placing the candy eggs on top, try to leave small linear areas clear from the eggs so that the treats can be cut into squares. Let it cool and cut into squares.
