Loved this cake!! Just a touch different than a regular chocolate cake. The Dr. Pepper adds a whole ‘nother dimension!!

I made this cake last weekend for my 10 year old son’s birthday party. We also had PW’s Red Velvet Cake. This cake was gone before the Red Velvet!! My son and I regularly order Chocolate Dr. Pepper when we go to Sonic so when I saw this recipe I just had to try it out. I have never made a cake this way (cooking everything in a saucepan first). The cake was delicious but I think if I make it again I will try it without the icing and I will bake it in a Bundt pan. My GrandMom used to make Coke cake and 7Up cake when I was little and I remember them having no icing and being Bundt cakes. Thank for a great recipe!!

I’m eating this right now. I’m not a huge fan of chocolate (yes I know, gasp/faint), but this is gooood. It is indeed way more moist than your usual cake – in fact it took twice as long to bake as the recipe claimed. This might just become my go-to recipe for brownies, since it’s so ridiculously moist, and I tend to like brownies more like cake anyway. For the frosting, I halved the amount of butter, cocoa, and milk, and used 1 cup of confectioner’s sugar. That gave me a light glaze rather than a true frosting, and it was not too sweet. Perfect.

Wonderful! I am usually nervous to make a cake from scratch. I seem to always have better luck out of the box, but this turned out great. The glaze makes this. I am not a huge fan of frosting, so this is perfect. Sweet, but good. And even with all the cocoa powder in this recipe, it is not too chocolately. I think this would make a great sheet cake recipe. Might try that next time.

My kids friends request me to make this for their birthday. It is a huge favorite. Thank you so much for sharing.

I really enjoyed the flavor of this cake but I thought the frosting got very grainy after it cooled. The icing goes under the bottom of the cake as well. The frosting is very smooth while warm but has a very grainy texture when cooled. I just thought it maybe needed a smoother frosting, I’m just not sure how to achieve that…

This was a super moist cake and a big hit with everyone who tried it. I was a little disappointed that the Dr. Pepper taste wasn’t really present in the cake itself so I used Dr. Pepper ice cream topping in the frosting to give it just a hint of that flavor. I made it in a bundt pan so I adjusted the baking time accordingly. Thanks for the recipe. It was super fun to make.

I have got to try this recipe. My son is a Dr. Pepperaholic!

This sounds a lot like the Guinness chocolate cake I’ve made before. I love how it’s made on the stove and your recipe has inspired me to switch out the beer for any other kind of bubbly beverage. I wonder how champagne would do (without the cocoa powder, of course)?

So good! Even better if amde with Dublin Dr Pepper (DP amde at Dublin, TX plant) They still use good ol’ cane sugar. Makes it sweeter.

I’ve made this cake for years using Coke. I also use it in the icing. Everyone loves it.

Pretty yummy stuff! Nice and easy to whip up and it comes out reminding me of a super thick, wonderfully decadent Texas sheet cake. You can also throw some chopped nuts (I used pecans) into the icing and not only does it taste great, but then you can tell youself you’re making it good for you by adding in some protein! Happy munchin!

My best friend in the whole wide world is coming to visit me in a few weeks. I’ve known her for 25 years, and her two favorite things ever are DP and chocolate! I cannot wait to have this cake ready for her! Thank you so much!

Just made it, can’t wait to taste it. Looks great even though I had to improvise.
Discovered once the cake went in the oven that I had no powdered sugar. Made a Nutella Glaze instead, consisting of 4 tbsp butter, 2/3 cup Nutella & 3 Tbsp milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until it all comes together.
I love it when a glaze comes together.
