I have made these several times and each time get rave reviews. I make no changes other than I add an egg to the filling to make it a bit more set. It has an intense lemon flavor without being tart. The topping is crumbly and is perfect for these squares.

I made these for an impromptu dinner party once and they were delicious. I whipped them up quickly just before we began cooking supper and they were ready to serve by the time we had eaten. Very lemony and natural tasting without being too sour. Thanks for sharing.

I loved these! I love the oatmeal mixture for the top and bottom. I was afraid the middle would be too runny, with just basically the sweetened condensed milk, but it held up great. Very nice.

Made them on Friday. Well, they’re delicious, but the top layer turned out too crumbly. Eating them is so messy. That’s why just 3 stars out of 5, sorry.

These were so good! I put them in the fridge and after they firmed up, they weren’t crumbly at all. Love all the lemon flavor!

I really enjoyed these! Unfortunately, I don’t think I got my mixture crumbly enough, but it still had an excellent flavor. Thanks again!

I made these for my wife and they turned out great. Definitely better cold. I love the crumb topping. I will use this for other bar treats, soon. Maybe a chocolate chip cheesecake filling.

Just made them in lieu of a traditional birthday cake and they are a huge hit! Perfect for Spring and when you want something lighter. Of course, I have a weak oven so after an hour of baking with no golden glow on top, I turned the broiler on while also turning Gilmore Girls on and there might have been a bit of a smoke alarm disaster. But nothing that couldnt be fixed by furiously scraping the top layer off….
Conclusion: Lemon Crumb Square deelish, and Gilmore Girls+Broiler is a bad idea.

Another winner, Ree! These sweet little squares certainly live up to their name– creamy, lemony and definitely crumbly. Delicious just the way they are but I think next time I may double the filling and maybe even try using key lime juice & lime zest. They are yummy both warm or cold and easy peasy, lemon squeezy to make too.

I substituted lime for lemon, and probably shouldn’t have used as much lime juice as the recipe called for, they pretty much locked our jaws! They were good, but the crumbly top was TOO crumbly, you had to eat them leaning over the sink, otherwise you would be covered in crumbs. Maybe up the butter in the crumb topping, to make it hold together better?
