Description

A classic Swedish treat. Your kids will love these!

Ingredients

  • 3-⅝ ounces, weight Butter
  • ½ cups Plus 1/8 Cup Caster Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder
  • 2 cups Rolled Oats
  • 3 Tablespoons Strong, Cold Coffee (entirely Optional!)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Sugar (optional!)
  • Shredded Coconut Or Pearl Sugar For Garnish

Preparation

Cut the butter into cubes.

Add butter, all the caster sugar, cocoa powder, oats, coffee and vanilla sugar, if using, into a food processor. Mix until very well combined. Taste and add more cocoa powder if desired for stronger taste.

Roll dough into balls of your own choice of size.

Roll the balls in shredded coconut or pearl sugar and let sit in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes or an hour. Or eat straight away! Enjoy!

I think I will keep the same amount of butter ;)

Oh, they are! :) Also, forgot to say, but you can certainly cut down the amount of butter if you wish to.

This recipe is quite easy to modify, add a little or detract, till you find the proportions that suit you – more or less oats, more or less sugar etc. Play with it and make it your own. :)

I’m sure you could try to sub with peanut butter. Being Swedish I’ve never thought of this, but why not give it a try. :)

Coconut flakes is what I personally prefer as well. Hope you like them! :)

Wow these look so good! Could you sub out part of the butter for peanut or almond butter? Just an idea because oatmeal, chocolate and p.b. taste so good together :) I will for sure roll these in coconut flakes!
