Hands down the richest chocolate cake I’ve ever had! I made mine in two 9″ rounds for my son’s birthday that baked in about 35 minutes. It doesn’t need icing but I used my sour cream buttercream recipe and it was the perfect foil. Definitely a “special occasion” cake.

This was delicious, sooo chocolatey! I used a chocolate ganache as topping (and to cover where I didn’t get it out of the pan cleanly) and it looked fabulous too

I absolutely LOVE this cake! It’s hands down the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had. I almost added some kind of glaze or sauce, but I’m so glad I didn’t! It really doesn’t need it. Like another review mentioned, this will be my go-to chocolate cake recipe for any occasion!

My mother-in-law gave me this recipe, except she calls it Damn Good Chocolate Cake! The very best chocolate cake I have ever eaten.

Would this cake be good as a birthday cake with a buttercream frosting on it?

Just had my first piece of this cake and it is The Best Choclate Cake I’ve ever tried! If you want a moist, gooey, chocolaty cake for any reason (do you really need one?!), please make this cake!

I have made this cake so many times for my daughter in law’s birthday…it is deicious! The original recipe is for a bundt cake, but I always make it in two layer pans.
