These are fantastic. I’ve made them multiple times as listed and they’ve come out wonderful each time.

I made these to take to an outdoor church potluck and everyone loved them, even my husband, who usually refers to gingerbread-type desserts as “old people food” (whatever that means). I think that the brand and flavor of chai tea that you use could make a bit of difference in the flavor – I used a scant 2 teaspoons of supermarket brand spiced chai and I would have been ok with a bit more chai flavor. I was also a teensy bit worried that the tea leaves would result in a “crunchy” texture but this was not the case at all. These were really delicious and I love having good bar recipes for when I don’t have time for individual cookies!

I’ve made these several times now with rave reviews each time.
Only advice, don’t try to substitute oil of any kind for the butter…completely changes the consistency (only made that mistake once).

The flavor of these bars was great! Only problem I had was I don’t think I mixed them long enough after adding the flour as they were a little grainy but overall would make them again!

Being Swedish these bars really taste of Christmas with all that ginger. Very nice!

These are delicious. I loved them, and so did hubby and both kids. They are definitely going into the rotation.
Note: I did only use 1 stick of butter as a previous poster did, they turned out beautifully and tasted great. Oh, and I used 2 tsp of Chai to make them a bit spicier.
They’re a hit!

I made these with a half a cup with shortening instead of the full cup of butter, and they came out soooooo well! I made them dairy-free for my uncle (who loved them, by the way), but definitely plan to try them with the butter next time I make them (…in three days).
I didn’t have allspice on hand, either, so I used 1/4 teaspoon each of cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg to substitute for it. I also used two tea bags of Chai.
Absolutely delicious! Wonderful job!

Unfortunately, we didn’t like these at all. It just seemed like it was missing something…salt maybe? I used unsalted butter, should I have used salted? They were just really bland. I wonder if I did something wrong because everyone else seems to love them.

I made these this morning — they made the house smell so good, and taste wonderful.

I just made these tonight and I had to comment right away. My husband and I LOVE them. I am taking the rest to work tomorrow. If they are a hit, I will make them for a family Christmas get together. I am going to try the candied ginger next time. Great idea!

This is the first recipe I tried on this website and it was absolutely delicious! The bars are very dense and satisfying. I used shortening instead of butter and lacked the freshly grated ginger because of what I had in the pantry, but I would love to try them in the future exactly as the recipe says! My brother called me to ask if I made the gingerbread in the kitchen because it was so delicious!

These are delicious, and have become a favorite in our family. The chai and ginger give the bars a great taste, and I love that they already call for whole wheat flour.

Would these work okay with regular all-purpose flour as opposed to whole wheat? Would I need to change the amount of flour I put in?

I made these after seeing them featured on the blog. Wow, are they good! My mom would love them – I’m going to make them again for Christmas at her house.
