Oh man … an easy recipe that rocks!

  • 1 stick Butter, Melted

  • 1-½ cup Sugar
  • ½ cups Buttermilk
  • 3 whole Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 whole Uncooked Pie Shell

Preparation

Mix all the ingredients together (except the pie shell) and bake in an uncooked pie shell for 50 minutes to an hour at 350 degrees, until center doesn’t jingle whenever you shake it. If it is browning too fast, turn down oven to 325 degrees.

I came across this recipe looking for a way to use up the last 1/2 cup of buttermilk in my fridge. I must admit I was a little skeptical about it as I’d never heard of Buttermilk Pie before, but I made it tonight and it is fantastic! My hubby loved it too.

It is very easy to make – just dump everything in a bowl and mix it up. The custard filling is so creamy and the thin crust that forms on top gives it just a tiny bit of texture. My husband compared it to creme brulee, and while I think it’s slightly less creamy than that, the flavor is pretty similar – without the crunchy burnt sugar, of course.

I will definitely be making this again. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
