Description

This recipe for Apple Dumplings uses Granny Smith apples, Pillsbury crescent rolls, and a can of Mountain Dew. Oh, and more butter than you’ve ever seen. Serve these beauties with ice cream (or, if you’re on a diet, a huge dollup of sweetened whipped heavy cream) and you’ll be left wondering how such ordinary ingredients can be so sublime.

Ingredients

  • 2 whole Granny Smith Apples
  • 2 cans (8 Oz. Cans) Crescent Rolls
  • 2 sticks Butter
  • 1-½ cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • Cinnamon, To Taste
  • 1 can (12 Oz.) Mountain Dew Soda

Preparation

Peel and core apples. Cut each apple into 8 slices each. Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll. Place in a 9 x 13 buttered pan.

Melt butter, then add sugar and barely stir. Add vanilla, stir, and pour entire mixture over apples. Pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Serve with ice cream, and spoon some of the sweet sauces from the pan over the top.

WARNING: Prepare this dish at your own risk. It is beyond imaginable.

Oh man, these are simply the best. Serve them warm with vanilla ice cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. You cannot stop with two. Get the shovel out! Yum yum!

I am now officially famous for this recipe. I always give credit where credit is due of course! I have made these at least 8 times and made them for my kindergarten parents as part of their graduation from my class. Parents were actually scooping them into cups as they left so as not to leave any leftovers. It is my all time favorite dessert. Hands down.

I don’t know, maybe it’s my aversion to the artificial flavor of canned crescent rolls, but I really didn’t like these.

I was expecting this to taste much different based on the mountain dew, but it tasted really good actually and I love how easy it was! Definitely something I’ll make again!
