Description

These waffles are best served with maple syrup or sliced strawberries and whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups Unbleached All-purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ cups Granulated Sugar
  • 3 whole Eggs
  • 2 cups Low Fat Milk
  • 1 cup Irish Cream Liquor
  • ¼ cups Unsalted Butter, melted

Preparation

Preheat a waffle iron.

Whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Create a well in the middle and add the eggs. Lightly beat the yolks to break them up, then add the milk, Irish cream and butter. Stir well just until the batter is mostly smooth.

Pour approximately 1/3-1/2 cup into each section of the waffle iron. Cook until golden and crisp.

I was excited to try these to get in the St. Patrick’s Day spirit. Although they taste OK, I agree with the above review that they are a little dense and don’t develop that nice crispy waffle edge. Likely won’t make again, but thanks for the opportunity to try something new!

This recipe looked really delicious with Irish Cream in it, so I tried it this morning! The waffles taste wonderful; however, they are on the dense side. So, I think it depends on how you like your waffles. If you want them airy, then I would look to another recipe. But if you like them more dense, then these are for you! I also have an ancient wafflemaker, which could contribute to the density issue!
