Description

Since I live in a dorm, I don’t have a lot of choices when it comes to cooking a hot breakfast. Luckily, I love oatmeal. I love oatmeal more with fruit in it. Add in chocolate? We’ve got a winner! Don’t be scared by the prep time: this sits overnight before cooking it in the morning.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cups Quick 1-Minute Oats
  • ½ cups Milk
  • 1 whole Medium Banana
  • 1 whole Hershey's Miniature Candy, Either Milk Or Dark Chocolate

Preparation

1. Stir the oats and milk together in a microwaveable bowl.
2. Place in the fridge and allow oats to soak overnight. I don’t cover mine, but I’m sure you could.
3. In the morning, the oats should have soaked up most of the milk. I always add another splash of milk because I like my oatmeal runny, not sticky.
4. Microwave oats for about a minute, until they’re warm and start to puff up.
5. Meanwhile, slice the banana and unwrap the chocolate. Try not to eat the chocolate before it makes it to the oatmeal!
6. After microwaving the oats for a minute, add the sliced banana and the unwrapped chocolate and microwave for about 20 seconds more.
7. Stir together, smash the bananas a little bit, let cool for a moment, and enjoy!

(A friend of mine made this, and added a spoonful of peanut butter when she added the banana and chocolate. She said it was great!)

I’ve been eating this for breakfast all winter & it is great. I don’t have a microwave so cook it on the stove & Soaking the oats overnight really shortens the cookking time in the morning.
