Description

All of your favorite Italian meats rolled into a sweet dough with cheese.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE DOUGH:
  • 1-¼ cup Warm Water
  • 2 teaspoons Instant Yeast
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 3 cups Unbleached Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • FOR THE ASSEMBLY:
  • 4 slices Thin Deli Ham
  • 4 slices Thin Deli Salami
  • 6 sticks Thin Deli Pepperoni, Chopped
  • 4 slices Deli Provolone
  • 4 slices Deli Mozzarella
  • 1  Egg, Beaten
  • Sesame Seeds, To Taste

Preparation

In a large mixing bowl (or in the bowl of a stand mixer), mix the water, yeast, sugar, honey and oil. Then mix in 1 cup flour and the salt. Continue mixing in all the remaining flour until you get a nice, soft dough. Knead until dough is soft and smooth, about 10 minutes by hand or 5 minutes with a stand mixer.

Shape the dough into a ball and place in a lightly greased bowl and cover tightly (with a lid or plastic wrap). Place the dough in a warm place and let rise for about one hour.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

On a floured surface, roll the dough into a long oval, then layer it with ham, salami, and pepperoni, then cheeses. Bring the long sides of the dough together over the center, and pinch together to seal. Turn over, so that the seam is on the bottom, and place on an ungreased baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds if desired. With a sharp knife, cut 3 diagonal slices to allow the steam to escape.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Just amazing! I added more meat and cheese and a bit of simple garlic butter sauce as a topping after it came out of the oven. Will definitely make again!
