Description

Fabulously cheesy biscuits with just a hint of heat! Whip them up in 30 minutes from start to finish!

Ingredients

  • 2-½ cups Flour
  • 2 Tablespoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Dry Mustard
  • ¼ teaspoons Cayenne Pepper
  • ½ cups Plus 2 Tablespoons Butter-flavored Shortening
  • 1 cup Grated Cheddar Cheese
  • 1-¼ cup Buttermilk

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400 F.

In a large bowl mix together the dry ingredients with a whisk. Blend in shortening using your hands until the mixture looks like cornmeal. Add grated cheese. Make a well in the center and add 1 cup of the buttermilk. Mix as little a possible, just until the mix is a little sticky. Add a bit more milk as necessary to hold everything together.

On a silicone baking mat, form dough into a circle and press it out to about 3/4 inch thick. Cut out biscuits using your preferred size/shape cutter.

Bake biscuits on a parchment paper- or silicone mat-lined cookie sheet at 400 F for 12 minutes.
