Description

An old-fashioned loaf full of apples and spices, topped with a delicious apple cider glaze!

Ingredients

  • 2-¼ cups Flour
  • ¾ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoons Ginger
  • ¼ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar, Packed
  • 2 Tablespoons Molasses
  • ½ cups Butter, Melted
  • ½ cups Unsweetened Applesauce
  • ½ whole Apple, Grated On A Box Grater And Then Pressed With A Paper Towel
  • FOR THE GLAZE:
  • 1 cup Confectioners Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Apple Cider

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. Set aside.

In another large bowl, whisk together the eggs, brown sugar, molasses, butter, applesauce and grated apple. Add wet ingredients to dry and mix until just combined.

Scrape batter into a greased loaf pan and bake for 1 hour 15 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let loaf cool completely before glazing.

To make the glaze, mix together the confectioner’s sugar and apple cider. Drizzle over completely cool loaf.

What a yummy bread. Watch your time & temp, I over cooked mine a hair running around after my 22 mo old. Mine would have baked in an hour or less. The flavor is nice. Great treat to have with tea. My 22 mo old asked for more, so that is a good sign! Thank you for the recipe! So tasty!
