Description

Super easy, super yummy bars. Perfect to wrap up in a cellophane bundle and hand out as little treats. Great with a cup of coffee. And so quick to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 package (10 To 12 Pieces In A Package) Graham Crackers
  • 2 sticks Butter
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips
  • ½ cups Slivered Or Sliced Almonds

Preparation

Line an 11×15 inch cookie sheet with whole crackers. It will fill up pretty much the whole space. Use as many whole crackers as you need to fill the space.

Mix butter and brown sugar in a pan to boil. Stir for 5 minutes while boiling on low.

Spread the butter/sugar mixture over the crackers and bake at 350 degrees for 7 minutes. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts when it comes out of the oven. Cool for 10-20 minutes in the fridge.

Break into pieces.

Alternative: After sprinkling with chocolate chips, let the chocolate melt for a minute, then spread it out over the caramel, then sprinkle the nuts. This is what I did on the ones photographed.

I just made these wonderful treats. I had one problem, I used Presidents choice Decadent chocolate chips and they did not melt. The bars didn’t look quite the same but the taste was loved by all. I know for next time to use different chocolate chips.

@janemm I know it’s a year later, but maybe you’ll see this. When I made this recipe before with saltines, I tried putting parchment paper on the bottome of the pan, with some hanging over the edges. I creased it at the corners so the crackers will lie flat. When they’re cooled, the parchment paper comes off easily, and you can just break them right onto the parchment paper as you peel it off. Easy, and very little clean up.
I just made these with the graham crackers and a bunch of toppings in about 3 inch stripes so I’ll have a variety: crushed candy canes, toffee bits, sea salt, almonds, and plain. I’m looking forward to trying them.

I made these last night and it was easy plus the combination of graham cracker, carmel, chocolate and peppermint is wonderful! However, I’m new to baking and wonder why my graham crackers stuck to the bottom of my cookie sheet. I let it cool, but the “cookie” crumbled and stuck and I had to scrape to get them out & even then it was a mess. :-( Ideas on what I did wrong? I want to do them again today as I really like them.

A winner …. in both the “ease” part and the “delicious” part!!!! Did mine with half sliced almonds and half Heath toffee bits. Don’t know which I preferred more….. They were DELICIOUS!

I had originally tried this recipe with saltines. The graham crackers intrigued me. This was a big hit. I filled up my whole pan with graham crackers and made extra caramel to compensate. I think I should have boiled it longer. It ended up being chewy rather than crisp. julip1882 has a great idea there with warming up the pan. Mine stuck too. I even used a silpat. Next time I’ll spray the sides of the pan with vegtable spray. In any case, it was delicious. Thanks for sharing!

I think my grahams weren’t up to par bc they turned out soggy. Still yummy!!

I made this and was so hoping for a delicious treat to put on our cookie plates. I’ve got a big mess in the pan….however, I just warmed it up in the oven a bit and they came right out and onto some parchment for cooling. they are mighty tasty.
