Description

Add some chopped pre-cooked ham, sausage or andouille for a spicy extra to make a complete 1 skillet meal. Suitable for Atkins, Keto, LCHF, low carb, diabetic, low glycemic, gluten free, sugar free, dairy free, Paleo.

Ingredients

  • 3 slices Kirkland Thick Cut Bacon
  • 1 Tablespoon Bacon Grease (From Cooked Bacon, Included In Nutrition)
  • ½  Medium Onion, Chopped
  • 1 pound Green Cabbage Chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon Lea & Perrin's Worcestershire Sauce
  • Salt And Pepper, to taste

Preparation

Fry bacon in a large skillet until crisp. Remove to paper towel to cool, reserving bacon grease in skillet.

Add chopped onions to the bacon grease and fry until onions begin to brown. Add cabbage and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet, and stir well. Cover, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook about 5 to 10 minutes or until thickest pieces of cabbage are fork-tender. Stir occasionally while cabbage cooks.

Add salt and pepper to taste. Crumble bacon over the cabbage (add any cooked, warmed protein, if using), stir and serve.

Notes:
1. This dish makes 3 large portions, or 6 smaller side portions. Nutrition information is for 3 large portions, since we serve it with an added protein as a meal in our house.
2. To make this a complete skillet meal, add sliced pre-cooked sausage, ham or other protein to the pan when you cook the bacon. Heat and brown the meat, and remove when you remove the bacon to drain it.

Nutrition estimates are calculated per serving with My Fitness Pal’s online recipe analyzer. If you make any changes to the ingredients, your results may differ. The recipe is stored there and available to MFP users for logging in their food diaries.
