We had margaritas. We had a layer dip. And we had chicken wings. But something was still missing. CHILI! What would the Superbowl winter be without chili? Exactly. Winter and chili go together like lamb and tuna fish. Like green eggs and ham. Like … well, winter and chili. Here’s a spicy, healthy twist on the old winter classic.
Sautee the yellow onion (diced) in a skillet with olive oil. Add the minced garlic. Cook for another minute. Meanwhile, add the fresh spinach to your slow cooker. Top with the onions and garlic. In the same skillet, brown the ground turkey. Season with the spices (red cayenne pepper, ground ancho chili powder, cumin, red pepper flakes). Add a pinch of salt and pepper. Once browned, add the turkey to the slow cooker. Top with the diced tomatoes and diced green chilis. Mix together. Add the beef broth, dark beer, and Worcestershire. Cook on high for 4 hours.
