My friend Jesse gave me her go-to Chili recipe and it has warmed my (and my family’s) belly on many cold days. You can make it as mild or as spicy as you’d like. Tastes great paired with homemade cornbread.
Add your extra virgin olive oil to a large pot, coating the bottom. Add your minced garlic, chopped onion, and green pepper, cook until translucent. Add your ground beef or turkey and brown.
Drain kidney beans and add to the pot along with crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce. Slowly stir in spices and adjust to your personal preference as needed.
Cover and simmer for about 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
