Description

This fried bread makes a great side, or it can be turned into a sweet treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 3 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ¾ cups Milk

Preparation

Mix all dry ingredients. Add milk. Combine with a fork.

Knead 2-3 times on a lightly floured surface. Pat out or roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into 3/4 in x 3 in strips. Fry in 1/2 inch of Crisco oil or a deep fat fryer. Serve warm.

To make into a sweet treat, dust the tops with powdered sugar. Coat with cinnamon sugar.

pretty decent, although they didnt puff up as much as a expected them too. good snack dipped in honey.

So good! So many variations can be made from this recipe, this would be a great thick breading for deep frying so many things!
