In honor of this Hallmark holiday, I made my sweetie Challah French Toast.
Combine the beaten eggs, milk, honey, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
Thinly slice the strawberries and add the granulated sugar and stir. This will macerate the strawberries so they’ll get nice and broken down to top your French toast.
Cut the challah loaf into 1/2-to-1-inch thick slices. Take two slices and place into the batter. Let one side soak for 2-3 minutes, then turn so the other side can turn.
In a large, deep skillet or frying pan, add 1 tablespoon of butter and let it melt over medium-high heat.
When the pan is nice and hot, add two slices of bread and cook each side until golden brown.
You can add the cup of heavy whipping cream to a mixer to make your own whipped cream.
Top the golden toast with whipped cream and the strawberries and enjoy!
