This is my dear sweet grandmother’s dressing recipe. She makes several pans every Thanksgiving and not one piece is ever left for leftovers. It’s THAT good! She always makes her own breads for the crumbs, but they certainly can be store bought.
Preheat over to 350F.
Saute celery, onion, and sage in butter until tender.
In a large bowl, combine all bread crumbs. Add vegetable mixture and eggs. Pour in enough chicken broth until the mixture reaches the consistancy of cornbread batter.
Bake for 1 hour in a greased 13″ x 9″ dish or until golden brown.

Sausage would be great, bmd4me! I may have to make a seperate pan with sausage, we have a couple of vegetarians in our family otherwise they would all be full of meat!

Our family has always added sausage to our T-day dressing. I wonder if that addition would work with this recipe?

Thanks for sharing this recipe! I have been looking for one that comes close to what my mom used to make and this sounds like it will be.
