Description

The only cranberry sauce recipe you will need this Thanksgiving!

Ingredients

  • 2 packages Cranberries (roughly 12 Ounces Each)
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1-½ cup Maple Syrup
  • 3 whole Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Ginger
  • 2 Tablespoons Orange Zest
  • ¾ cups Orange Juice

Preparation

In a large saucepan, combine all of the ingredients over medium heat. Stir to combine and continue stirring until the sugar has dissolved, about 2-3 minutes. Bring the mixture to a boil and then lower the heat to a simmer. Cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the cranberry sauce has thickened substantially. If you find the sauce to be too thin, just leave it on the heat until it has thickened. Remove from heat and remove the cinnamon sticks very carefully with a pair of tongs. Transfer to an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight. Serve cool and enjoy!

This recipe was very easy and it came out great! I just made it, and it was a little tart (as cranberries tend to be) so I added a little more maple syrup and it seemed to help. I am not sure if the flavors meld more as they sit, but its a great alternative to the canned crap. Yum!
