Description

A Christmas morning breakfast gift.

Ingredients

  • 1-¾ cup All-purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • ¾ cups Packed Light Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chunks
  • ½ cups Chopped Pecans

Preparation

Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt together.

Layer in a wide mouth jar in this order, pressing down between each ingredient: Flour Mixture, Brown Sugar, Chocolate Chunks, Nuts

Decorate and seal jar and attach recipe card as follows.

Chocolate Chunk Coffee Cake:

Beat 1 stick softened butter in a large bowl, add 3 eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Add jar mix and1 cup sour cream , mix very well , it may be lumpy.

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease a 13×9 inch baking pan. Spread batter evenly into pan and bake 25-35 minutes until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool on wire rack or enjoy warm with favorite coffee, tea or cocoa.

I made these for my daughter’s Teacher presents this year to take to school. I used a cardboard canister that was pre-decorated and put a plastic treat bag inside it like a liner. I added the ingredients as you said and then tied the bag with a twist tie. There was enough room in the canister I bought to put the index card right in with it so it was easy to carry!
