A refreshing homemade drink perfect for summer!
Combine the lemon juice, sugar, and water in a pitcher and stir until the sugar dissolves.
For the syrup: In a large saucepan, combine the halved strawberries in a saucepan with sugar and water. Bring the mixture to a boil then reduce to a simmer. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to thicken a bit, about 15 minutes. Stir in the basil and let cool completely, about 1 hour.
Then, using a fine strainer, strain the strawberries over a bowl to extract the syrup.
Add the strawberry basil syrup to the lemonade and mix well.
Enjoy!
Makes about 40 fluid ounces (6 glasses).
