I’ve made several different versions of eggnog, but this is my favorite. It wouldn’t be the holidays without some!
In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the egg yolks until they lighten in color. Gradually add the 1 cup sugar and continue to beat until it is completely dissolved. Add the milk, cream, bourbon, and nutmeg and stir to combine.
Place the egg whites in a bowl and beat to soft peaks. With the mixer still running, gradually add the 3 tablespoons of sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
Whisk the egg whites into the mixture. Chill and serve. You can sprinkle a little extra nutmeg into each glass as it’s being poured, if you want.
Note: serve punchbowl in a bowl of ice, if you can. You may need to whisk again as the evening wears on.

Made this for Christmas brunch and EVERYONE agreed it was divine. So simple to make and the instructions were so easy to follow. Thanks for sharing…its going to be on our Christmas menu every year on out now.

Eggnog, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways… This looks magnificent Babs! Can’t wait to whip up some after we finish off our store bought version. If you need to use up any remaining eggnog, I just posted a French toast recipe on here. though I suspect it’ll take a little while to get through the approval process before you can view it! Hope that you and yours have a Very Merry Christmas and a most joyous New Year!

Tigli, if you find those mugs (aren’t they Marty Moose?) — I’d like to know. I’ve been searching for them for years!

Last winter was the first time I have ever tried eggnog (and it was the store-bought variety). I can’t wait to make my own this season!
Side note: eggnog always conjurs up the scene in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation where Clark and Cousin Eddie are drinking eggnog out of those Bullwinkle bugs, and Cousin Eddie just dunks his whole mug in the bowl to serve himself. I need some of those mugs. Ebay…here I come!
