Description

Chocolate cheesecake with a bit of white swirled in. This is the real thang, guys!

Ingredients

  • 28 whole Oreos
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • ¼ cups Butter, Melted
  • 6 ounces, fluid Semisweet Baking Chocolate
  • 4 packages (8 Oz) Cream Cheese
  • 1-¼ cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • ¼ cups Cocoa Powder
  • 4 whole Eggs, Brought To Room Temperature
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips
  • 2 Tablespoons Heavy Cream

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Smash oreos into crumbs, mix with 1 Tbsp. sugar and melted butter, press into 9″ springform pan.
Bake crust at 350 for 7 minutes, let cool. Reduce oven temp. to 325 degrees.
Once cream cheese has come to room temperature, beat with sugar until completely smooth. Beat in eggs, one at a time, scraping the bowl often. Mix in vanilla.
Set aside 1 1/2 cups cream cheese mixture. In a small bowl, melt baking chocolate until smooth and let cool. To the remainder of the batter, add melted baking chocolate and cocoa powder. Pour chocolate batter over crust. Dollop spoonfuls of white batter on top. Swirl batter with a knife or spatula, creating a nice swirly effect. Tap cheesecake on counter lightly to help batter settle.
Set a roaster pan full of hot water on the bottom rack of oven. Place cheesecake over water on top rack. Bake cake for up to an hour, or until cheesecake is set. Turn off oven, let cheesecake set for one hour. Loosen cake from sides of springform pan with a knife–this helps prevent cracking. Allow cake to cool for a couple more hours.
Prepare ganache: Heat together 1 cup chocolate chips and heavy cream, beat till smooth. Decorate top of cheesecake.

HELP! I’m baking this cheesecake right now and this is my first cheesecake ever. After the first hour of baking, when the recipe says to turn off the oven and let the cheesecake set up for another hour, does that mean in the turned off oven? I don’t know what to do, I don’t want it to dry out, but I also don’t want it to be under cooked if I take it out after the first hour! Thanks for anyone who can help!

It seriously did rock my world. I made this cheesecake on a request by my stepmother for her birthday. It was an incredible success! Not too sweet, yet just sweet enough. Mmm, the leftovers were gone by the next day.
This was the first cheesecake I’ve ever attempted, and it went so flawlessly that I think it’s on my list of favorite desserts to make.
Just a few notes: Left out the sugar in the Oreo crust. I also made the mistake of not separating enough delicious creamy, cheesy mixture before adding the chocolate and had an almost overwhelmingly chocolatey cheesecake. While this was a huge hit, I think I wouldn’t do it again. The mostly chocolate-free layer on top would have been a really nice compliment to the very rich bottom half.
I’m definitely adding this recipe to my collection. Incredibly delicious and pretty simple, a great dessert to make the day ahead so I don’t have to worry about it while cooking dinner the day of!

Made this delicious cake this weekend for a special 50th birthday party and received rave reviews from everyone! I put three strawberries on top the ganache for some color–it looked and tasted wonderful!

I’ve made this several times since it was first posted. It was my husband’s request this April for his birthday cake. Great recipe!

Just made this last night and it is delicious! Next time, I would leave out the sugar in the oreo crust, it is definitely sweet enough without it. Also, after the first hour of baking, I turned off the oven, but left the cheesecake in the oven for only 40 minutes. It came out really moist. I also didn’t do the ganache and it was still wonderful!

This made a cheesecake just like I was hoping for! Thank-you. Everyone really seemed to enjoy it when I served it, too.
