Description

An oldie but a goodie: banana “ice cream”. This is always a hit at my cooking classes because people can’t believe this ice-creamy consistency is just bananas.

Ingredients

  • 1  Banana
  • 1 Tablespoon Cocoa Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Peanut Butter Or Almond Butter, Optional

Preparation

Peel banana and place it in the freezer in a plastic bag or wrapped in plastic wrap for at least a few hours.

When you’re ready for your “ice cream”, take the frozen banana out of the freezer and slice into thick slices. Place frozen banana slices in a blender or food processor and puree until the banana gets smooth and creamy, like soft serve ice cream.

Add cocoa powder and gently blend until all mixed in. You could also add a tablespoon of peanut butter or almond butter here too!

Serve alone or with chopped nuts, chocolate chips, shredded coconut or fresh berries.

I just bought a new blender and was anxious to try this “ice cream” I have seen all over the internet. I tried mixing up three bananas and just could not get it to blend well without any liquid, even though I sliced the bananas. After a very long time stirring and re-stirring, stopping and starting blender, it finally reached the desired consistency. I was disapointed with the taste after all that work. Hopefully others will have better luck with the ease of making this and the end result. Great idea but lackluster.
