Rich, chocolate brownies made with a cake mix and a thick layer of soft caramel and chocolate chips. Purely evil.
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Combine caramel bits, 1/3 cup whipping cream, and vanilla in a small saucepan and melt over medium heat until smooth, stirring constantly. Once melted remove from heat and set aside.
In a medium sized bowl, combine dry cake mix with the remaining cream and the melted butter. Press 2/3 of the brownie batter into the bottom of a greased 8×8″ pan and bake for 6 minutes.
Remove from oven and top with chocolate chips followed by the caramel mixture. Crumble the remaining brownie batter over the caramel and return to the oven for 15-18 minutes. Remove from oven and cool completely before cutting.
