Description

A fun dessert specifically for adults. Watermelon wedges soaked with tequila and triple sec. Top with margarita salt and lime wedges. Pefect for the upcoming Memorial Day BBQ

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Seedless Watermelon Or A Regular Watermelon, Quartered And Cut Into 1 Inch Thick Wedges
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • ¾ cups Water
  • 1 cup Tequila
  • ¾ cups Triple Sec
  • 2 whole Limes, Cut Into Wedges
  • Margarita Salt, For Garnish

Preparation

Arrange watermelon in a single layer in two 9-by-13-inch baking dishes. Bring sugar, water, tequila, and triple sec to a boil in a small saucepan. Cook, stirring, until sugar dissolves, about 1 minute. Let cool slightly. Pour syrup over watermelon wedges, and refrigerate for at least 45 minutes. Remove watermelon from syrup, and arrange on a platter. Squeeze limes over melon, and sprinkle with margarita salt.

* I increased the amount of tequila and triple sec, but you can use amounts based on your preference. I also let the watermelon slices sit in the refrigerator for 3 hours instead of 45 minutes. The longer the slices sit the better they taste.

Tried these for a 4th of July party this weekend. They were a hit! Next time I’m trying it with the Malibu Rum.
