Description

These festive heart-shaped treats were a huge hit with my young daughters. So if you are looking for some Valentine’s Day fun, make a batch of these easy no-bake treats to share with your family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • 4 cups Miniature Marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
  • 3 packages (6 Oz. Size) Candy Melts In Valentine's Day Inspired Colors
  • 2 packages (2 Oz. Size) Sprinkles

Preparation

Line a cookie sheet or tray with a piece of aluminum foil sprayed with butter-flavored cooking spray or use a silicone mat so you have a flat nonstick surface to shape your treats on.

In a large microwave safe bowl, melt butter. Add marshmallows and microwave for 1 minute. Mix melted marshmallows and butter and stir in Rice Krispies, 2 cups at a time, stirring well to make sure they all get evenly coated in the marshmallow mixture.

Take a 3 1/2-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter and spray the inside of it with butter-flavored cooking spray. Spoon enough Rice Krispie treats into the cookie cutter up so it is filled to the top. Use a spatula to level off the top of the heart. Carefully lift off cookie cutter and let heart-shaped treat cool and firm up. Keep working until you have made all of your hearts.

Now it’s time for the fun part: decorating the hearts. Choose three different colors of candy melts, which you can find at the craft store. These candy wafers are easy to work with because they are not as temperamental as chocolate.

Get 3 small microwave safe bowls ready and pour each color in a separate bowl. Place each bowl in the microwave on normal power for 1 minute, then stir and continue to microwave for just 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between until they are just melted. You don’t want to overheat it. Use a separate spatula or a butter knife to spread a smooth layer of candy on the top of each heart. Don’t worry if melted candy cools as you are working. You can reheat it for 20 to 30 seconds melt it again if needed.

If you want to add some writing or drizzles of other colored candy on top, put some melted candy in a plastic pastry bag and either use a round tip or just snip a small hole in the tip. The pastry bag makes decorating easy. Get creative with your decorations! Finally, for extra fun, add on some colored sprinkles.
