Very few ingredients and super simple to make! This candy is a huge hit with everyone!
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Line a large rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil.
Place saltines in a single layer on foil lined baking sheet.
Melt butter in medium sauce pan over medium heat. Add brown sugar and bring to low boil. Boil for 5 minutes.
Pour mixture evenly over saltines. Bake in the preheated oven for 5 minutes or until the entire layer is bubbly. You will want to watch this closely.
Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over saltines. When the chips begin to melt, spread the chocolate evenly over saltines making sure to spread all the way to the edges.
Place baking sheet in freezer for about 15 minutes until the entire layer has hardened. Break into pieces and enjoy!

Believe Betsy: this has been called “the best thing I’ve ever eaten” by many of my friends and coworkers. Make these and you will be a star!
I was introduced to these by my husband, whose father published it in one of those hometown cookbooks with the plastic comb binding.
For the holiday season, we make batches upon batches of these crackers. Before freezing we top the chocolate with decorations such as nonpareils, white chocolate chips (which we swirl into the chocolate), colored sugar (not recommended– it disappears), nuts, and coconut.
