Description

Simply soak fresh cranberries in syrup and then roll in sugar for an addicting, picturesque holiday candy.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons Honey
  • 2 Tablespoons Hot Water
  • 10 ounces, weight Fresh Cranberries
  • 1-½ cup Sugar (white Granulated, Powdered, Or A Mix)

Preparation

Mix honey with hot water. (Alternative is to cook 1/4 cup sugar into 1 cup water for a simple syrup.) Optionally, add orange zest, vanilla extract or cinnamon for flavor.

Soak 1raw cranberries in the honey/water mixture until coated.

Sprinkle white granulated or powdered sugar across a cookie sheet. I use a mixture because I like the dual purposes of coverage of the powdered sugar and the crunch of the granulated.

Using a slotted spoon, transfer the wet cranberries to the sugar mix on the cookie sheet. Stir until all the cranberries are covered and leave in the sugar mixture for 30 minutes or until sugar coating hardens.

Store in an airtight container for 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator if they don’t disappear instantly!

If you like sour things, this is great. We love sour things and the sweet sugar coating made these….well….addicting. I added a dash of vanilla to the honey and water mixture. My kids have devoured several of them and the sugar hasn’t had time to harden yet. These will be a must make on my holiday list of recipes! Thanks!
