This is a rich moist delicious cake recipe. It’s super easy, too. My mother-in-law gave it to me after I got married. She used to make it for my husband every birthday and I’ve been making it for his birthday every year since.
Melt cocoa, margarine and water in a sauce pan. In a large bowl, mix sugar, flour, baking soda and salt. Mix in melted cocoa mixture. Add buttermilk, eggs and vanilla.
Pour into buttered 13×9 inch pan. Bake 35 minutes at 350ºF.
While cake is in the oven, make the frosting. Melt butter with cocoa and milk. Add powdered sugar. Beat together until smooth. Add walnuts and spread over warm cake.
