Description

A delicious banana caramel pie. Be careful while making the caramel.

Ingredients

  • 1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk (14 Oz)
  • 3 whole Bananas
  • 1 whole Graham Cracker Pie Crust
  • _____
  • Topping Ingredients
  • 1-½ cup All-purpose Flour
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter
  • 4 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Cinnamon, More Or Less To Taste

Preparation

Boil the can of sweetened condensed milk for 3 hours in a large pot with plenty of water, never letting the water level fall below the top of the can. (Or else it will explode. Seriously.) After 3 hours, you’ve got a nice caramel.

Mix the crunchy pie topping ingredients together and place them in a greased pan. Bake at 350°F for 15 to 20 minutes. Break up the pieces once cooled (use a blender if necessary).

This pie works well with bananas, apples, pears, etc. Mash/chop the fruit over the pie crust, add a layer of the caramel, then cover with the crunchy pie topping.

Makes one delicious pie.

I’ve made a version of this pie before. I’ve always just topped it with whipped cream instead of the topping you suggest. My Mother-in Law re-created the pie after she tasted it at a restaurant. Most people think I’m crazy when I tell them to boil the can of evaporated milk. :)

Thanks for posting this recipe!

Very tasty! Had some trouble with the topping- had to add butter and baking time beyond the recipe. My house smells fantastic, though!
