Phyllis’ Chocolate Cake

Description
If you’re in our family, you had this cake for your birthday at least once. My sister Phyllis made it the most so it bears her name. This is just a simple chocolate cake.
Ingredients
- ½ cups Butter
- 3 Tablespoons Baking Cocoa
- 1-½ cup White Sugar
- 1 cup Water
- ½ cups Buttermilk Or Sour Milk
- 2 whole Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 2 cups Flour
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 2 teaspoons Baking Soda
Preparation
Put butter, cocoa and sugar in a bowl. Bring water to boil. Add to the mix. Stir until butter is melted. Add buttermilk, eggs and vanilla. Mix in flour, salt and baking soda. Beat for 1-2 minutes.
Grease and flour a 13 x 9 cake pan. Bake at 375F for 30 -40 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
Note: To make sour milk, add 1/2 teaspoon vinegar to 1/2 cup milk and let sit for a while.
