Description

This has been popular with Mommas for years! Great summer dessert and always a hit at a potluck. Satisfies any sweet tooth.

Ingredients

  • 1 container 16 Oz. Small-curd Cottage Cheese
  • 1 box Orange Jello, 3 Ounce Box (You Can Use Sugar Free If You Prefer)
  • 1 can (15 Oz. Can) Mandarin Oranges, Well Drained
  • 8 ounces, weight Cool Whip (full-fat, Low-fat, No-fat, Your Choice)
  • ⅓ bags (10 Oz. Bag) Mini Marshmallows
  • ½ cups Chopped Pecans (optional)

Preparation

Combine container of cottage cheese with the orange Jello packet. Stir until well mixed.

Add in the well-drained can of mandarin oranges and the tub of Cool Whip. Stir.

Now stir in the marshmallows and nuts. Store in the refrigerator and allow to get nice and cool. If you were to eat it right away, it would taste grainy from the Jello. But give it at least a couple of hours and the flavors will really come together and blend nicely.

Definitely a dessert you can make the day before.

Cook’s Tip: Don’t let the cottage cheese keep you from trying this; you don’t really taste it in the dessert. It just adds texture. Also, try adding some chopped pineapple in there too or use walnuts instead of pecans. I’ve seen a few variations on this over the years (some folks call it Orange Fluff) and it’s a nice little recipe to play around with based on your family’s taste.

My dad loved this. We called it Orange fluff. and sometimes we would substitute canned pineapple chunks instead of the mandarin oranges. And you can experiment with different jello flavors. Very simple dessert that tastes great.

Going to try this… sounds like what my friend’s Mom always brought to pot lucks but was pink. We called it “Pink Stuff”.
