This is my mommy’s recipe. I wish I could say it was mine because it’s so stinkin’ good! Truthfully, it’s not all that bad for you—bonus! This chewy nut and Crasin concoction is one of those things that is so addicting. I actually blew one of my strict diets over this stuff, if that means anything to you. Anyway, it’s also super great for holiday gifts.
Coarse chop the nuts and fruits. Combine in a large metal or glass bowl. Set aside. In a large saucepan, combine sugar, Karo and water. Stir well and bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook to soft ball stage or 228 to 230 degrees. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Quickly pour over the fruit, nut mixture and stir to combine well. Dump onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and press down with a piece of parchment paper to 3/4″ thick. Cut into squares while still warm.
