Description

I wanted to combine two of my favorite flavors in a frosting for a yummy hazelnut mocha cupcake. Just make your favorite chocolate or mocha cupcake and frost with this Nutella coffee frosting!

Ingredients

  • 1 Tablespoon Milk, Plus More As Needed To Reach Desired Consistency
  • 1 teaspoon Instant Coffee Granules
  • 2 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter, Softened
  • 2 Tablespoons Nutella, Or Other Hazelnut Cocoa Spread
  • 1-½ cup Confectioners Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract

Preparation

In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon milk with 1 teaspoon instant coffee and stir until coffee is dissolved.

In a separate bowl, combine butter, Nutella, sugar, salt, vanilla, and the 1 tablespoon coffee-milk mixture. Mix well with an electric mixer, adding more milk as needed to make a fluffy spreadable frosting.

Makes enough to frost 10-12 cupcakes if just spreading it on with a knife.

I paired this frosting with my grandmother’s friend’s oatmeal chocolate cake recipe, in which I replaced the cup of water with a cup of coffee. It was an excellent duo! Thanks for sharing!

I just made this to go on a chocolate cake. It is devine. Hope I can get it to the party without my husband devouring it. I will definately use this over and over. I doubled the nutella because we like it so much.

I made this frosting and put it on a mocha cake that I made – it was a huge hit!! completely delicious and not overly rich. Coffee and nutella go so well together. Yum.
