Description

Ready in 20 minutes. Rich, thick flavor. High in antioxidant content. Good caffeine fix. Green tea glaze. Not too sweet, not overwhelmed by a tea flavor. Just right. Bake them once and you’ll bake them again.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-purpose Flour
  • ¼ cups Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Matcha Green Tea Powder
  • ¾ teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 1 Tablespoon Unsalted Butter
  • ½ cups Half-and-half
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • FOR THE GLAZE:
  • ¼ cups Confectioners Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Matcha Green Tea Powder
  • ⅛ cups Boiling Water

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375ºF.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk dry ingredients: flour, sugar, matcha green tea powder, baking powder and baking soda. In a separate medium bowl, whisk wet ingredients: egg, butter, half-and-half, and vanilla extract until smooth. Mix wet and dry ingredients together until a batter forms.

Fill a donut pan with the batter, only filling halfway since it will rise when baking in the oven. Bake for 5 minutes if making mini doughnuts or 8–10 minutes if making regular-sized doughnuts. They’re ready if you stick a knife through one and the batter does not stick to the knife when you pull it back out (it is dry). Remove from oven and cool on a rack before adding frosting or glaze.

Make the glaze by whisking sugar, green tea powder and boiling water in a medium bowl until smooth. Dip the top of the doughnuts one by one into the glaze and set on a serving plate. Enjoy!
